Package 1 - The Full Works

This package features the highest level of accommodation and all the tours. You overnight at the Chillagoe Cabins , Cobbold Gorge , and in the Railway Carriages at Undara Lodge. Tours include Chillagoe Caves and town tour, a morning Cobbold gorge boat cruise and a two hour lava tube tour. Dinner and Breakfast at overnight accommodation is included. This package is subject to availability of accommodation, (Book early!) although alternatives can usually be arranged.

Not all railway carriages at Undara have ensuites although they are our priority when booking this package. Only double rooms have ensuites. If you want twin rooms, ensuites will not be available. Note that you can subtract $10.00 off the prices below if you don't get an ensuite room.

If not all components are available, we can make alternative arrangements, and put you on a wait list for the advertised accommodation. Regardless of where you end up staying, you will still do the tours that are a part of this package.

This package offers all the tours, but staying in accommodation in Forsayth and Mt Surprise, rather than out at the tour sites. Includes transfers, tours of Chillagoe Caves and town, Cobbold Gorge and Undara, dinner and breakfast at overnight accommodation, which is at the Chillagoe Eco Lodge (ensuite cabins), Forsayth Tourist Park and Bedrock Village Van Park (ensuite cabins) in Mt Surprise.

During the peak season (June - September), it is sometimes nessessary to offer alternative accomodation to that which is advertised due to these places becoming booked out. Please note that the Undara tour offered with this package is not suitable for people who have impared mobility, as the tubes visited do not have broadwalks.

Gulflander & Savannahlander

Gulflander / Savannahlander packages can also be arranged.

The are two basic levels of Combined Gulflander / Savannahlander packages available. These are the 'first class' and 'economy' packages from which other sub options are available. Common to both packages is the need for you make your own way out to Normanton and start your journey from there. This can be done by taking a Macair flight from Cairns to Normanton on Tuesday, then beginning your train journey on the Gulflander on the following day. We look after all your arrangements from when you arrive at Normanton.

A bus option is available to Normanton, but you will need another nights accommodation out there, after an 11 hour journey on a small bus.

Package 6 - Mount Surprise to Forsayth (First Class)

This is ideal for self drive passengers that want to start their trip from the “bush”, or caravaners who don’t want to leave the black top . This is arguably the most rugged and scenic part of the track.

Cobbold Gorge can often be booked out during the peak season. Package 10 - 2 day Undara with Rail

Stoney Creek Bridge

Departs Cairns on Friday and arrives at Undara in time for lunch. In the afternoon you do a two hour tour of the tubes and is followed by the wildlife at sunset tour. On Saturday morning, after breakfast, you are transferred to Mt Surprise where you join the Savannahlander for the journey to Cairns.

Copperfield River Bridge

Joe and Jo, from Bedrock Village Caravan Park in Mount Surprise, operate a day tour from Mount Surprise that includes a trip on the Savannahlander. Board the Savannahlander in Mount Surprise on Thursday afternoon and sit back and relax for your 2 hour rail journey as you wind your way through the heart of cattle country to the quaint outback town of Einasleigh. After a refreshment stop at the newly restored characteristic hotel, your guide will take you to the fascinating Copperfield Gorge and explain the history and geology of the region. On your return journey, “boil the billy” amongst the trees on the banks of the river. Tour includes transfers, train fare and afternoon tea. Forsayth to Einasleigh Half Day Trip

Eiansleigh Hotel

Thanks to Carmel and Max, from the Forsayth Tourist Park, you can experience the picturesque Delaney Gorge while leaving your vehicle in Forsayth. In one direction you'll hop on board the Savannahlander while in the other you'll travel in the (almost) luxurious comfort of the Tourist Park's bus. On Thursday you can catch the bus over to Einasleigh and spend a bit of time exploring before catching the Savannahlander back to Forsayth. On Friday you join the Savannahlander in Forsayth and get picked up in Einasleigh. For more information contact the Forsayth Tourist Park.

Mareeba Half Day Trip

Stoney Creek Station

Join the Savannahlander in Cairns for a leisurely trip up the beautiful Kuranda Scenic Railway. Enjoy a brief stop in Kuranda before continuing along the banks of the Barron River to Mareeba. In Mareeba there's a short wait for the bus which will get you back to Cairns at 11.15am. The same bus also stops in at Kuranda on the way to Cairns, so you can get off there if you'd prefer and head down the Kuranda range by Skyrail after having a good look around Kuranda.

The current adult fare for The Savannahlander from Cairns to Mareeba is $56. The bus fare from Mareeba to Cairns is $16.80 and Mareeba to Kuranda is $11. Bus fares can be paid when boarding the bus.

Chillagoe Nightlife

Enjoy the 'bright lights' of Chillagoe on this overnight trip. Depart Cairns by bus on Friday morning and after a short stop over in Mareeba arrive in Chillagoe early in the afternoon. Spend the afternon exploring the old smelters or the limestone caves and after sunset head out for some star-gazing.

On Saturday join the Savannahlander for the return trip to Cairns.
