Einasleigh gets a new Bridge

Just last week a new bridge, crossing the Copperfield River, was opened for traffic. Unfortunately, this was for road traffic rather than rail traffic. However, having the nice high bridge upstream of the railway has a couple of benefits:

  • Debris coming down in the floods might hit the new bridge before they hit ours, or at least soften the blow somewhat.
  • The new bridge gives us a great platform from which to take photos of the Savannahlander – provided there are no road trains crossing the bridge at the same time.

Of course the presumed benefits of the photographic platform had to be put to the test, the  results of which are in the gallery. Sun was not quite right for the pictures, but it would require a major timetable alteration to correct that, so we put up with it for now.
